Abstract. The study presents the results of an analysis of the dynamics of fishing intensity in the northeast Pacific Ocean by the indigenous people of northeast Asia during the Neolithic period. The result of the analysis was the definition of the time period, which has its own characteristic features, and the presentation of the possible volume of catch of hydrobionts in the designated period in the designated water area.

Abstract. The article discusses the history of the activities of Russian and Japanese fishery entrepreneurs on Sakhalin during the period of joint exploitation of fish resources under the terms of the Shimoda Treaty of 1855, which declared the island an undivided territory, the  St. Petersburg Treaty of 1875, which transferred all of Sakhalin to Russia, from the start of the Russo-Japanese War, when activities of Japanese and Russian fishermen on Sakhalin was stopped. The role of Japanese and domestic entrepreneurship is compared, difficulties and specifics in the development of the Russian fishing industry on the island in the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries are noted.

Abstract. The relevance of the study is due to the interest of the scientific community in the problems of developing new territorial spaces that are opening up in connection with taking place global climate changes. Russia has a unique historical experience in this area, an example of which is the successful development and settlement in 1861-1914 the Volga-Caspian fishing region, whose rich fish resources have become an important food factor in the unfolding process of the country's industrialization. The aim of the study is to study the role of industrial and commercial clusters in the development of the Volga-Caspian fishing region in 1861–1914.

Abstract. The article presents the historical facts of the origin and development of the theory of designing commercial fishing gear in Russia and abroad: the beginning of the 20th - the end of the 20th centuries. The design theory originated in Russia and Japan at the beginning of the 20th century, since countries paid great attention to the development of fisheries complexes. A significant contribution to the science of designing commercial fishing gears was made by F.I. Baranov is an outstanding scientist, teacher and patriot of his Motherland. Thanks to his work, we can proudly say that the scientific substantiation of modern commercial fishing - an important branch of the national economy not only in our country, but also in other countries of the world - is an achievement of Russian science. Andreev N.N. prepared the basics of the theory of designing purse seines. Fridman A.L. gave great development to the theory of designing trawls. The fundamentals of the theory of CAD trawls were developed by Rozenshtein M.M. The scientific school for the design of gears and processes for commercial fishing (a branch of the Timiryazev Academy - Mosrybvtuz - KTIFIE - KSTU) is developing, graduate students defend their dissertations, doctoral dissertations are being prepared.

Abstract. Analyzing the development of the fishing industry of the Sakhalin, Kamchatka, Magadan regions in 1965 – 1985, the author focuses on the features of the modernization process. It is established that socio-economic experimentation in the conditions of the late Soviet period did not eliminate the disproportion of the development of the fishing industry in the far-eastern territory.

Abstract. The broad discussion on the resonant legislative initiatives of the Government of the Russian Federation unfolded in 2022 makes us revise lessons of the late Soviet economic transformation of domestic fishing industry. By the latter half of the 80’s of XX century the domestic fishery industry was suffering from a whole load of serious economic and production issues, which was followed by a readjustment of sectoral management. The late Soviet reform of the economic mechanism of the fishing industry has obvious similarities with some of the economic transformations of 2017-2022. Thus, the article analyses the context of reforming the fishery industry in the transitional period of the late XX century аs well as draws parallels between the two models of fishing industry modernization and their results.

Abstract. The article studies the socio-economic factors that caused changes in the registered consumption of fish products by the population. In conditions of increasing sanctions risks, this reversal of the behavioral vector of the population of producing regions acting as economic actors increases the risks of fluctuations in the state of the fisheries sector itself.

Abstract. Russia is one of the world leaders by marine capture. Fishery has strategic importance for the Russian national economy that ensures food security in the country. For a number of regions of the Russian Far East and the Russian Far North, fishing is the main specialization, which forms a significant share of the gross regional product and ensures the socio-economic development of the region, employment in fishing settlements and the population's “fixation” in coastal areas remoted from regional centers.

In recent years, however, the industry has faced strategic challenges, such as necessity of capture and processing facilities modernization, increasing industry productivity and expanding the resource base to increase national yield. At the same time, given the impoverishment of aquatic bioresources in national waters and the growing need to improve the sustainability of the fisheries sector, these challenges are faced by many other fishing countries.

Thus, in order to study the international experience, the article conducted a comparative analysis of the mechanisms of providing state support to the fishing industry in the countries of the Asia-Pacific region. In order to conduct the analysis, we had chosen the number of developed and developing countries that represent top global fishery capture and production countries. Analysis of international experience allows us to draw attention to various approaches to fisheries support policies in the world Fishing Powers, which can be adapted to Russian realities.

AbstractIn the modern world, the problem of resources in all branches of human economic activity is becoming more and more acute. At the same time, the importance of fish resources not only does not decrease, but increases every year. Along with this, the systemic problems of the fisheries complex originating under the Soviet system of management in modern conditions are often not only not solved, but are becoming more and more acute. The article analyzes the guide interviews of the management of the fishing industry and their view of the current state of this complex branch of the national economy of Russia.
